Following the latest European Union legislation regarding the industrial chemical Bisphenol A (BPA) that is used in thermal label materials, BPA should not be placed on the market in thermal paper in a concentration equal to or greater than 0,02% by weight after 2 January 2020.

Thermal paper that is commonly used in retail and hospitality sectors for receipt paper and food labels usually has Bisphenol A (BPA) that is used as a colour developer.
